Metro, bus, car – we all use our preferred means of transport. Unfortunately, most of us use the car for our daily commute, which has a considerable impact on the environment, since it pollutes the most. And yet, there are more environmentally-friendly ways of contributing to the well-being of our beloved planet.
To vary the pleasures, let’s discover eco-friendly modes of transport that will leave the car in the garage!
1. Public transport
This is THE most environmentally-friendly method of transport, and also the most widespread in major cities. It includes the metro, streetcar, bus and train. These popular means of transport allow you to get around quickly and easily, while limiting your ecological footprint.
Luckily, Luxembourg, Namur and Brussels have excellent public transport links.
Good to know: In the Grand Duchy, public transport is even free to encourage use.
2. The bike
It’s the most advantageous means of transport, since it combines ecology and well-being, so you can fit in your daily half-hour’s exercise.
The electric version is also good for the environment and offers greater comfort. You’ll find them in every major city, with a range of subscription options to suit all tastes. On the other hand, you’ll have to hang on in the rain!
3. The electric scooter
It’s the star of recent years, in electric version of course! Who hasn’t noticed its presence in major cities such as Namur, Brussels and Luxembourg? It’s now possible to rent one on every street corner and use it on demand, since it’s available (almost) everywhere on a self-service basis for a fee. Admittedly, scooters can be dangerous and it’s best to take every precaution when using them, but they make getting around town a whole lot easier. You can also invest in a wide choice of models and take to the streets at your leisure, or combine the two modes of transport: train + scooter.
If none of these options seem to suit you, consider carpooling when you travel. Numerous applications make it easy to get in touch.
We can all do our bit for the environment and contribute to quality sustainable development. Our flexiroomers are the first to use eco-friendly methods of transport on a daily basis, as all our residences are strategically located close to bus and streetcar stops and train stations.
