Shopping in Luxembourg: our favourite addresses

After the holidays and a hectic end to the year, it’s time to relax, treat yourself and succumb to the temptation of the winter sales. In Luxembourg, a city brimming with good addresses, we’re lucky enough to be able to take advantage of them from January 2. Here are the best places to shop in Luxembourg.

1. Rue Philippe II

Downtown Luxembourg is rather small, but don’t let the size fool you: the famous Rue Philippe II is home to some of the world’s finest luxury brands, including Dior, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Hermès and Gucci. It’s the main thoroughfare not to be missed by 5-star shoppers. On the other hand, sales are likely to be non-existent in these magnificent boutiques.

2. Grand Rue

Perpendicular to Rue Philippe II, this is Luxembourg City’s second main street. It’s home to many stores whose names everyone will recognize. You’ll find Sephora, Ba&sh, American Vintage, Mango and many more. Enough to delight the majority of fashion addicts.

3. Galeries Lafayette Luxembourg

For several years now, the famous French department store has been setting up shop in the capital of the Grand Duchy. To stand out from its neighboring towns, Galeries Lafayette de Luxembourg has a new, modern and trendy concept. It features a number of renowned and exclusive fashion houses. They also boast a rooftop with an incredible panoramic view over the city, so you can make the most of your shopping break.

4. SMETS

We couldn’t talk about shopping in Luxembourg without mentioning the SMETS concept stores, which no longer need to claim their success. Founded in 1986, these stores are a benchmark for high-end luxury in Luxembourg and Brussels. Thanks to her avant-garde vision, the designer offers an exclusive selection of lifestyle ready-to-wear, design and cosmetics in 5 outlets, each with its own unique identity. An address not to be missed!

5. Shopping centers

Numerous shopping centers flourish on the outskirts of Luxembourg city center. This makes parking easy and convenient, so you can take advantage of gatherings of renowned stores for hours of unlimited shopping. We’ll find Auchan Kirchberg in the Kirchberg district (one of the very first), La Belle Etoile and City Concorde in Bertrange and the latest addition: La Cloche d’Or in Howald.

So there’s no shortage of good addresses in Luxembourg to satisfy our buying fever. You’ll be able to take advantage of the sales throughout the month of January and make great bargains, or simply enjoy a moment of pure pleasure to start the year off right.
