The best meal is the one you have with friends! To maintain or strengthen the bonds between roommates or flexiroomers, nothing beats a meal shared, and even better, cooked together. Because the best part is often the preparation! To inspire you, here are 5 quick and easy recipes to make with friends. Ingredients are given for 4 people, so multiply if necessary.
1.Raclette: for winter evenings
Ingredients:
- 16 potatoes
- 800 g raclette cheese
- 4 slices white ham
- 4 slices Bayonne ham
- 8 slices bacon
- 8 slices Bündnerfleisch
- Gherkins
- + a raclette machine
Preparation:
- Boil potatoes for 30 minutes.
- Prepare a nice plate of charcuterie.
- That’s all there is to it!
Each person melts a slice of cheese in the raclette machine and pours the melted cheese over his or her potato and charcuterie.
2. Fajitas: everyone does what they like
Ingredients :
- 2 fajitas
- 750 g chicken
- 2 or 3 peppers
- 1 large onion
- 1 lemon
- Cayenne pepper
- Tomatoes
- Cucumber
- Corn
- Salad
- Guacamole
- Grated cheese
- Fresh cream
Preparation:
- Cut onions and peppers into small pieces.
- Sauté the onions and peppers separately. When they are almost cooked, bring them together and continue to cook over a low heat for a few minutes, adding salt, pepper and cayenne pepper, then remove from the heat.
- Cut the chicken into small pieces and pan-fry.
- Add the lemon and chilli/onion mixture and leave on a low heat for a few minutes.
Prepare all the other ingredients by cutting them up and placing them in small bowls.
Everyone serves themselves according to their tastes, arranging the ingredients of their choice in a fajita which must then be folded up in the proper manner.
3. Homemade pizzas: be creative!
Pizzas can be customized to suit individual tastes. Make several to vary the pleasure. You can also use leftovers from the fridge and your imagination! But our favorite pizzas are :
- The classic tomato/mozzarella/basil dish
- Sweet goat/honey/nut
- Healthy feta/spinach
- La gourmande 4 fromages
- La Basque cured ham/Ossau Iraty/roquette/pine nuts/figs
Here is the recipe for tomato / mozzarella / basil pizza:
Ingredients :
- 1 pizza dough
- 250g tomato sauce
- 1 mozzarella di Bufala
- 1 handful cherry tomatoes
- Salt / pepper
- Olive oil
- Fresh basil
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 180° (fan-assisted).
- Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza dough base, then generously arrange thin slices of mozzarella.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes.
- Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Once out of the oven, add the fresh basil and enjoy on its own or with arugula.
4. Chilli sin carne: a sure bet for large gatherings
Ingredients :
- 300 g tinned kidney beans
- 500 g peeled tomatoes
- 65 g tomato paste
- 1 red bell pepper
- 50 g sweet corn
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- Cumin, paprika, chili (1 teaspoon)
- Olive oil
- Coriander, oregano
Preparation :
- Sauté minced garlic and onion in oil.
- Add the kidney beans and bell pepper cut into thin strips and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, corn, concentrate, spices and herbs. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 45 minutes.
Accompanied by rice, this chili sin carne will satisfy all the vegetarians in the room! And to transform the recipe into a chili con carne, simply add 500 g of ground beef to cook before adding the beans.
5. Pancakes aren’t just for Candlemas!
Ingredients for 12 pancakes :
- 250 g flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 l milk
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 pinch salt
Preparation:
- Mix flour, salt and sugar and make a well.
- Place the eggs in the bottom of the well and gently fold in with the previous mixture.
- Add the milk gradually, mixing well, then the oil.
- Cook the pancakes in a hot frying pan for 2 minutes on each side.
You can top your crêpes with anything you like: spread, brown sugar, lemon juice, frangipane, jam, compote, whipped cream, ice cream… But the simple butter/sugar one is still unrivalled!
