The Namur region is a paradise for food lovers: There are 6 Michelin-starred restaurants, including two with double Michelin stars, “l’Eau vive” and “l’Air du temps”. But there are many other establishments well worth a visit for warm, tasty meals.
1. Namur Castle
On the heights of Namur, near the Citadel, you can’t miss the Château de Namur. Surrounded by verdant parkland, it is home not only to a four-star hotel, but also to the training restaurant of the École Hôtelière de la Province de Namur. Axel Devilliers, the Chef de Cuisine, prepares a cuisine that is both classic and inventive, based on French gastronomy but also drawing inspiration from world cuisine. You’ll be amazed by the dedication and kindness of the young students.

2. La Cantina
When they opened La Cantina, two childhood friends from Namur, Jérôme and Thibault, had in mind to combine hospitality with an original culinary experience. So they created a canteen for friends where you sit on school chairs. A tapas restaurant, everything is homemade with fresh produce. Cold or hot tapas, platters, cheese plates, there’s something for every appetite. Conviviality and sharing are the watchwords of this friendly place, which boasts a pretty terrace in summer.

3. VinoVino
VinoVino is first and foremost the sommelier Marc Detraux, who drew on his experience at L’Eau vive to set up his own business, sharing his passion for wine in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. His motto? Taste and talk. You’ll find at least 6 bottles to taste by the glass; as soon as one bottle is finished, you can choose the next to uncork! VinoVino is also home to chef Noé Pellet, who offers a range of tasty dishes to accompany your glass. Let yourself be tempted by duck breast, Chimay escavèche or smoked trout filet.
Michelin did not overlook this nugget and awarded it a Bib Gourmand.

4. The D’Arville
In Wierde, in an attractive 19th-century farmhouse with exposed beams and bricks, chef Olivier Bourguignon will tantalize your taste buds. His inventive and refined cuisine, inspired by regional recipes, has been awarded a 15/20 rating by Gault et Millau. The staff are attentive and the atmosphere relaxed. In summer, take advantage of the terrace and the beautiful view over the fields.
And if you feel like extending your evening and don’t want to go easy on the wine, the D’Arville has charming guest rooms right next to the restaurant.

Ogawa’s little brother, Sanga is a soberly decorated Japanese restaurant specializing in ramen (Japanese noodle soup). You’ll enjoy delicious gyozas for starters, followed by authentic ramen that will take you on a real journey. You can feel the freshness of the products and the homemade touch. In summer, cold noodles are available. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere friendly. Don’t hesitate to push the door!
